Ruth in the Field of Boaz
The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust.
Harvest time in Bethlehem: three paintings of the stranger who gleans behind the reapers.
A wide field of ripe grain under a heavy summer sky. In the foreground a young woman kneels before the owner of the field; around them the reapers go on cutting, and at the edge horses tread out the grain.
Boaz, in a red cloak and a broad hat, has stopped on the path and speaks to the stranger. Ruth stands before him with lowered eyes, the gleaned ears in her arm. Behind her the reapers bend to their work.
Noon in the harvest field. The reapers sit and lie around their meal in the shade of the stacks. From the left a man leads a woman towards them; she holds her gleanings in front of her and hesitates.
